Maine Environmental Services in Harcourt, VIC is seeking a keen and enthusiastic Apprentice Gardener to join our growing team. This is a full-time apprenticeship position offering hands-on training across gardening and landscaping.

You will work with experienced staff to develop horticultural skills, learn industry best practices, and contribute to creating beautiful outdoor spaces for clients. No formal qualifications required; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with planting, cultivation and maintenance of landscape areas.

• Operating and maintaining hand tools and small power equipment under supervision.
• Assisting with lawn care, including mowing, edging and aeration.
• Helping design and implement garden layouts under guidance.
• Learning about plant species and horticulture techniques.
• Supporting site preparation, clearance and general grounds maintenance.
• Maintaining a safe and tidy work environment and adhering to safety regulations.
• Communicating effectively with clients and team members.

Job description

Maine Environmental Services is seeking a keen and enthusiastic Apprentice Gardener to join our growing team in Harcourt, VIC. This is a full-time apprenticeship position that will provide you with comprehensive, hands-on training in all aspects of gardening and landscaping. As an Apprentice Gardener, you will work alongside experienced staff to develop your horticultural skills, learn industry best practices, and contribute to creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces for our clients. Key responsibilities

• Assisting with the planting, cultivation and maintenance of landscape areas, including advanced trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants


• Preparing garden beds and soil, including digging, weeding and composting


• Watering and feeding plants according to seasonal requirements and best practice standards


• Operating and maintaining hand tools and small power equipment under supervision


• Assisting with lawn care, including mowing, edging and aeration


• Helping to design and implement garden layouts and landscaping schemes under guidance


• Learning about plant species, horticulture techniques and garden design principles


• Supporting the team with site preparation, clearing and general grounds maintenance


• Maintaining a safe and tidy work environment and adhering to all health and safety regulations


• Communicating effectively with clients and team members
