Job summary

Prime Engineering & Pumping Solutions Pty Ltd in Gunnedah, NSW, seeks an enthusiastic Apprentice Fitter Machinist to join our team on a full-time basis. You will begin a structured apprenticeship program, gaining practical skills in fitting and machining alongside experienced tradespeople in a professional engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Year 10 or equivalent education minimum.
• Interest in engineering, fitting, machining and mechanical work.
• Strong practical aptitude and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
• Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic.
• Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
• Commitment to health and safety practices in the workplace.
• Valid driver's licence is desirable.
• Previous experience in a workshop or trade environment is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced trades with the assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and machinery.
• Operate a range of machine tools and equipment under supervision, including lathes, mills, drills and other workshop machinery.
• Read and interpret technical drawings.
• Undertake preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment under guidance.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized workshop environment in compliance with health and safety standards.
• Record work completed and maintain accurate documentation of tasks and hours.
• Attend and complete formal training components of the apprenticeship program as required.
• Work collaboratively with team members and follow instructions from supervisors and senior tradespeople.
