Job summary

Kypreos Group is seeking an Apprentice Mechanical Fitter/Machinist to join our Prestons Asphalt Production plant. The role offers a formal apprenticeship pathway with TAFE training and access to required tickets, while supporting maintenance across plants.

The successful candidate will be willing to enrol in MEM30219, show reliability, and work in a safety‑conscious team environment with standard Monday–Friday hours and emergency overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required but must have a strong desire to learn and develop.
• Be willing to enrol in a related trade apprenticeship MEM30219 or equivalent.
• Pass a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing.
• Reliable, energetic and able to work in a team with strong safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Install, service and maintain asphalt production plant equipment.
• Conduct daily pre-operational and safety checks.
• Perform planned and unplanned maintenance and rectify faults.
• Clean, lubricate and fabricate components as needed.
• Assist in design of tools and parts and maintain maintenance logs.
• Contribute to site cleanup and safety practices.

Job description

Summary

To help support operational growth SANSW are looking to recruit a motivated Apprentice Mechanical Fitter/Machinist to join our Asphalt Production Maintenance team reporting to the Group Maintenance Manager. The role will be based in our Prestons Asphalt Production plant and will work across our other production plants as needed.

Role

Permanent role.

Standard workdays Monday – Friday with weekend or night work as necessary to work on emergency repairs where required.

The ideal candidate will be willing to undertake a formal apprenticeship.

We will offer paid employment and cover cost of necessary tickets whilst working towards your trade qualification through TAFE.

Flexibility to attend TAFE classes around your role.

The role consists of the following tasks

Installation, service and maintenance on asphalt production plants and associated machinery including:

Conduct daily pre-operational and safety checks on asphalt production plant equipment.

Undertake maintenance as part of planned preventative maintenance programs and managing unplanned breakdowns.

Fault identification and rectification.

Clean and lubricate critical components of asphalt and other associated plant equipment.

General fabrication and machine work.

Aid in design of engineering tools and parts.

Analysing and reporting daily issues with appropriate follow-up action and managing maintenance logs.

General cleaning of asphalt production plant site.

Role Requirements

No prior experience required but musthave a strong desire to learn and develop.

Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills under pressure situations.

Currently or willing to enrol in a related trade apprenticeship such as aCertificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining) (MEM30219) or other relevant trade.

Be expected to successfully pass a Pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol test.

The ideal candidate will be reliable, fit, energetic, and able to work in a team environment.

Possess a strong commitment to safety, planning, time management and communications skills.
