Job summary

EDL Energy Broome Power Station is seeking candidates for a 4-year apprenticeship in either the electrical or mechanical trade. You will train alongside Electrical and Mechanical Operators and gain hands-on experience across maintenance and operations.

The program covers planned, preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and safety practices. Strong communication, reliability and a will to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• Desire to learn either electrical or mechanical trade.
• Good communication skills and reliability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planned, preventative and corrective maintenance activities on electrical equipment and systems.
• Support inspection, servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of diesel and gas engines, pumps, compressors, cooling systems, valves and other electrical plant equipment.
• Assist in equipment shutdowns, overhauls, and major maintenance projects.
• Identify and report equipment defects, abnormal operating conditions, and potential reliability issues.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and workshop facilities in a clean and serviceable condition
• Attend and actively participate in formal training, workshops and competency assessments
• Apply learned skills and knowledge in practical workplace situations
• Seek guidance and feedback from supervisors and qualified tradespersons to support development
• Comply with EDL safety policies, procedures, permits, and safe work practices
• Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and hazard reporting processes.
