Genesis Minerals is offering a Year 1 Trade Apprentice electrical pathway in Western Australia. Start with Komatsu at their Welshpool facility for 6–8 months, then transition to Genesis operations on a 15 days on / 13 days off roster, with a view to earning a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician.

Training focuses on OEM systems, equipment and technology, under experienced tradespeople. On completion, you will be employed in a Genesis Minerals operation in the Leonora/Laverton region,

About the Opportunity

For the first time in our apprenticeship pathway, you’ll have the opportunity to start your apprenticeship with Komatsu, one of the world’s leading mining equipment manufacturers, gaining valuable experience in an OEM environment. For your first 6-8 months, Komatsu will be your host and Genesis training partner at their Welshpool facility, working 5 days on, 2 days off, and providing hands-on exposure to: OEM systems, equipment and technology Experienced electrical tradespeople Practical skills within a leading mining equipment environment Technical training and development.

Following this initial development period, you’ll transition to a Genesis Minerals operation on 15 days on, 13 days off roster, where you’ll continue developing your skills with a particular focus on mobile mining equipment, electric-drive haul trucks, fixed plant, processing infrastructure and associated electrical systems. On completion of the 4-year apprenticeship, you’ll earn a Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, providing you with a nationally recognised trade qualification.

Essential Requirements

• Ability to live and work in Perth for the first 6-8 months of the apprenticeship program, to support initial training, development, and TAFE requirements.
• Completion of Year 12 or equivalent.
• Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in the electrical trade.
• Willingness and commitment to successfully complete a Certificate III Electrical Apprenticeship.
• Current C Class Driver's Licence, or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to successfully complete all required pre-employment and apprenticeship entry requirements.
