Job summary

Transdev Australasia is offering an Apprentice Boilermaker position at the Balmain Shipyard. You will learn hands-on, under supervision, while studying for a Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking).

You will work with experienced tradespeople and mentors on ferries, shipbuilding, and marine maintenance, with a Monday–Friday 7:00am–3:30pm schedule and rostered days off.

Qualifications

• Interest in fabrication / boilermaking and working with metal.
• Curious, a problem-solver, and eager to learn.
• Good with your hands and keen to study at TAFE and on the job.
• A pre-apprenticeship in boilermaking is a bonus but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Work side-by-side with qualified trades and boilermaker supervisors.
• Learn to maintain and repair heavy-duty metal structures on ferries.
• Gain exposure to shipbuilding, marine maintenance and fabrication repair.
• Participate in problem-solving and fault-finding tasks with your mentor.

As an Apprentice Boilermaker at our Balmain Shipyard, you'll work alongside experienced tradespeople and supervisors, learning hands-on skills while you study for your Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Boilermaking).

What You'll Do

• Work side-by-side with qualified trades and Boilermaker supervisors
• Learn how to maintain and repair heavy duty metal structures on our ferries
• Get exposure to shipbuilding, marine maintenance, and fabrication repair techniques

• A genuine interest in fabrication / boilermaking work (maybe you liked tech, science or hands-on subjects at school)
• Someone who's curious, a problem-solver, and committed to learning
• Good with your hands and keen to learn both at TAFE and on the job
• A pre-apprenticeship in boilermaking would be a bonus but not essential
