Job summary

JLG, an Oshkosh company, is seeking a dedicated apprentice to join our Melbourne workshop team. You will assist Workshop Technicians and participate in a four-year apprenticeship combining on-the-job training with block theory at a registered training organisation.

Responsibilities include pre-delivery checks, routine service and repairs on elevating work platforms, telehandlers and lighting towers, and following safety and quality guidelines. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must commit to a 4-year apprenticeship with on-the-job and classroom training.
  • Cert III in Elevating Work Platforms or Cert III in Mobile Plant Technology required.
  • Must communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy to read manuals and calculate quantities.
  • Mature, reliable, and safety-conscious.

Responsibilities

  • Assist workshop technicians with all functions in the workshop.
  • Carry out pre-delivery of machines and perform service tasks.
  • Assist with repairs to elevating work platforms, telehandlers and lighting towers.
  • Inspect machine performance and assess safety compliance.
  • Follow site WHS and environmental policies.
  • Complete paperwork and inspection forms to ANZ standards.
  • Support three-monthly and annual inspections.
  • Perform general cleaning and tidying of the workshop.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Apprentice is responsible for assisting Workshop Technicians with all functions within the workshop including carrying out pre-delivery of machines, service and repairs to customer and company owned Elevating Work Platforms,telehandlersand lighting towers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.

  • Learning about and assisting with the evaluation of machine performance
  • Inspecting designs and finished products for compliance with specifications
  • Assisting with installing, testing,repairingand modifying electronic and hydraulic equipment
  • Conducting pre delivery inspections and assessing machines to ensure they are in good working order
  • Assisting with conducting repairs and maintenance of customer and JLG owned elevating work platforms, telehandlers and lightingtowers
  • Assisting with any duties as required including general cleaning and tidying of the workshop
  • Abide by specific site instructions including Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental policies
  • Responsible for completing all appropriate paperwork and inspection forms required by ANZStandards and also by customer and/or siterequirements
  • Assist with conducting three monthly and annual inspections of machines in accordance with JLG and Australian industry standards
  • Sanding,paintingand general trade assistant duties as required.
  • General ad-hoc duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The candidate must be committed to undertaking a4 yearapprenticeship which includes on the job training and block theory and practical training with a registered training organization. Qualifications will include either a cert III in Elevating Work Platforms or a Cert III in Mobile Plant Technology.
  • Ability to effectively communicateboth written and verbal
  • Good listening skills including the ability to follow instruction
  • Ability towork independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient Language, Literacy and Numeracy including the ability to write job notes, read safety information, machine manuals and understand basic numeracy such as time, parts numbers andquantities
  • Mature minded and reliable
