Job summary

JLG Industries in Australia is seeking a Workshop Technician to carry out service and repairs to Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP), Telehandlers, and Lighting Towers in the workshop and in the field when requested.

You will evaluate equipment performance, inspect designs for specifications, install, test, repair and modify electronic, mechanical and hydraulic systems, and conduct pre-delivery inspections to ensure machines are in good working order.

Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Proficient literacy, numeracy and ability to read machine manuals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate performance of MEWP, telehandlers and lighting towers.
  • Inspect designs and finished products for compliance with specifications.
  • Install, test, service, repair and modify electronic, mechanical and hydraulic equipment; may work with hydraulic hoses and small diesel engines.
  • Conduct pre-delivery inspections and ensure machines are in good working order.
  • Repair and maintain MEWP, lighting towers and telehandlers for customers and the company.
  • Assist with the training and supervision of Apprentices.
  • Follow site Instructions including WHS and environmental policies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe workspace and complete all required paperwork and inspection forms to ANZ standards.
  • Perform three monthly and annual inspections of machines in line with JLG and ANZ standards.
  • Participate in pre-start meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Generate sales and service leads where possible and collaborate with the team.

  • Assist with the training and supervision of Apprentices.
  • Abide by specific site instructions including Workplace Health & Safety and Environmental policies.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace, ensure all tools used are in good working order.
  • Responsible for completing all appropriate paperwork and inspection forms required by ANZ Standards and also by customer and/or site requirements.
  • Conduct three monthly and annual inspections of machines MEWP in accordance with JLG and ANZ industry standards.
  • Participate in pre-start meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Generating sales and service leads where possible and collaborating with the team.
  • General ad-hoc duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a similar role – experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical advantageous
  • Trade qualification in elevating work platform technology, heavy vehicle, diesel, automotive, auto electrical, or related field
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal.
  • Proficient Language, Literacy and Numeracy including the ability to write job notes, read safety information, machine manuals, and understand basic numeracy such as time, parts numbers, and quantities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
