Job summary

UnitingCare Health, Brisbane-based and not-for-profit, seeks an Application Technical Lead to guide the architecture and governance of core mobile and web apps. You will mentor teams, drive secure development, and align with cyber security and product stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital platforms.

The role is a fixed-term contract through to September 2028, with hybrid work options and a Brisbane base at 192 Ann Street.

Qualifications

• 7+ years' experience in software engineering, application development or solution architecture.
• Experience leading engineering teams, technical initiatives or squads.
• Expert-level knowledge of React Native and React.js development environments.
• Experience implementing governance, code reviews and best practices.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Experience designing/maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of modern authentication/authorisation frameworks (JWT).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across mobile, web and cloud-based applications.
• Establish and enforce software engineering standards, code review processes and governance practices.
• Lead design decisions across React Native, React.js and microservices architectures.
• Partner with Cyber Security to embed secure development practices and shift-left testing.
• Oversee release governance, CAB approvals, risk assessments and deployment controls.
• Mentor developers, build technical capability and ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Act as escalation point for complex technical issues related to apps, integrations and performance.
• Support Azure DevOps pipelines, deployment automation and release management.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Lead platform improvements, upgrades and security enhancements.
• Coordinate testing, QA and production release readiness across teams.
• Assist with incident response and stakeholder communications during critical releases.
