Job summary

Perpetual Digital, part of Perpetual Group, is seeking an Application Support Engineer. Based in Melbourne or Sydney, you will monitor and support data-focused applications, resolve production incidents, and collaborate with engineering, consulting teams, and clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
• At least 3 years of experience supporting and developing data-focused applications.
• Experience with Angular, .NET, Microsoft SQL, Databricks and data integration tech.
• Experience using Power BI or similar reporting/visualisation tool.
• Knowledge of Azure data services (Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory) and ETL/data warehousing concepts.
• Familiarity with IT service management practices and tools like ServiceNow or JIRA.
• Strong troubleshooting and cross-stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Resolve production incidents within SLAs, coordinating with users, technical teams and external providers.
• Monitor applications and batch processes daily, address issues affecting availability.
• Assess requests and plan system/process enhancements within security and service controls.
• Improve performance, scalability, security, and maintainability of applications.
• Contribute to project enhancements and development process improvements.
• Maintain documentation and guide junior/offshore team members.

About the Role

Join Perpetual Digital as an Application Support Engineer and help maintain reliable software applications and services for our customers.

Based in Melbourne or Sydney and reports to the Senior Application Support Manager. You will monitor applications, resolve production incidents and deliver technical and operational support. You will work with engineering and consulting teams, application users, customers, vendors and service providers. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement and may require availability to support critical incidents outside standard office hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Resolve production incidents within agreed customer service levels, coordinating with users, technical teams and external providers.
• Monitor applications and batch processes each day, addressing issues that affect availability or process completion.
• Assess customer service requests and plan system or process enhancements within established security, quality and service management controls.
• Improve the performance, scalability, security, supportability and maintainability of supported applications.
• Contribute to application enhancement projects and improvements to development processes.
• Maintain application support, risk and audit documentation, while providing guidance to junior and offshore team members.

About you

You bring practical application support experience, strong technical capability and a logical approach to resolving complex issues. In addition you will have:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience supporting and developing applications, particularly data focused applications.
• Experience with Angular, .NET, Microsoft SQL, Databricks and database or data integration technologies.
• Experience using Power BI or a comparable reporting and data visualisation tool.
• Knowledge of Azure data services, such as Azure SQL Database and Azure Data Factory, along with ETL and data warehousing concepts.
• Familiarity with IT service management practices, including incident and change management, and tools such as ServiceNow or JIRA.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and collaborate across different stakeholder groups.
