Job summary

Nuix is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to join the Apical team in Sydney, working on the Nuix Platform and REST SDK. You will own user stories from design to release, write well-tested code, maintain documentation, and contribute to architectural discussions.

The role offers growth toward senior scope within a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will design secure APIs, implement authentication flows, and participate in planning and CI/CD health across cloud and local deployments.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant programming experience
• Experience building and maintaining production REST APIs in a service or microservice architecture
• Proficiency in Java; willingness to work across the stack; Python or TypeScript is welcome
• IAM concepts such as OAuth2/OIDC, JWT and API keys; Keycloak is a plus
• Testing practices, version control and CI/CD fundamentals (e.g., Jenkins)
• Containerised deployment and IaC (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm/Crossplane); API gateways like Traefik

Responsibilities

• Deliver user stories and small features end-to-end with high quality and minimal rework
• Design, build and maintain secure, scalable REST APIs across the Nuix platform
• Keep API documentation current (OpenAPI/Swagger) and developer guides
• Write unit and integration tests and maintain test coverage
• Investigate and fix CI/CD pipeline issues; ensure deployment health across environments
• Collaborate with architects, QA, DevOps and product teams for consistency and reuse
• Provide mentorship and participate in code reviews with teaching intent
• Adopt AI coding assistants to accelerate ramp-up and exploration
