Job summary

JD Sports Australia & New Zealand is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our high-performing team supporting end-to-end payroll across Australia and New Zealand. You will work with store teams, stakeholders, and employees to ensure accurate payroll processing and continual improvements in processes.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will contribute to audits, reconciliations, and reporting while maintaining compliance with payroll legislation, taxation, and superannuation requirements.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in a Payroll Officer role.
• Experience using Dayforce.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation and superannuation requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Intermediate Excel skills.
• Experience with payroll and time & attendance systems.
• Retail industry knowledge of awards preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll activities across Australia and New Zealand.
• Review and maintain payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Manage payroll inbox enquiries and provide timely support to employees and managers.
• Complete payroll audits, reconciliations and reporting.
• Process employee commencements, changes and terminations.
• Prepare separation certificates and payroll-related documentation.
• Partner with People & Culture, Retail Operations and Finance stakeholders to resolve payroll queries.
• Support month-end and year-end payroll activities.
• Assist with payroll process improvements and systems enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with relevant payroll legislation, awards and company policies.
