Job summary

South Gippsland Shire Council is seeking an Animal Management Officer to promote responsible pet ownership, support community safety and enforce relevant legislation across the South Gippsland region. You will respond to enquiries, undertake investigations and patrols, educate the community and safely manage animals in diverse situations.

This role contributes to animal welfare outcomes and community safety.

Qualifications

• Experience working with animals and knowledge of animal behaviour.
• Understanding of local laws and ability to enforce compliance.
• Proven ability to investigate, document records and manage conflicts.
• Current Victorian Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Respond to animal management enquiries and complaints across the region.
• Undertake investigations and patrols to promote welfare and safety.
• Educate the community on responsible pet ownership and compliance with policies.
• Safely manage animals in a range of situations and maintain accurate records.
