Job summary

Southern NSW Local Health District is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the Anatomical Pathology Department at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle. This temporary full-time role supports specimen reception, microtomy allocations and routine laboratory tasks in a busy clinical setting, with a 38-hour week.

The position offers a competitive salary of $66,939.37 to $69,503.42 per annum plus superannuation, plus generous benefits and opportunities for learning through in-house

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of laboratory environment and histology techniques.
• Ability to maintain high quality output with competing priorities.
• Customer service experience in a laboratory setting and effective communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen reception (Anatomical Pathology) and microtomy duties.
• Prepare materials and maintain equipment following lab processes and protocols.
