Job summary

1KOMMA5° Australia is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to join the Heartbeat AI team in Sydney with hybrid work between home and office. You will design, build and maintain robust data models that translate raw data into actionable insights for the Australian business.

You'll own the Australian data pipelines, collaborate with Product, Marketing, Sales and Support, and help shape data practices enabling faster, smarter decisions across the organisation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in analytics engineering or a closely related role
• Strong SQL expertise with BigQuery and dbt or SQLMesh
• Experience with at least one BI tool; Looker a plus
• Proven ability to define and communicate metrics to diverse stakeholders
• Experience with data governance, data catalogues, IAM and metadata management
• Independent, autonomous working style with problem-solving ability
• Understanding of data ingestion and pipeline automation; Python skills preferred

Responsibilities

• Co-designing and maintaining core energy market and optimisation data insights with the international team
• Owning Australian data pipelines and driving timely incident resolution
• Building and evolving data models across Product, Energy Services, Sales and Operations
• Generating dashboards and reports spanning KPIs, market intelligence and validation of energy optimisation

The Role

As the Analytics Engineer, you'll be the catalyst for data-driven decision-making across the Australian business — working alongside the global Data & Analytics Platform team to design, build and maintain robust, scalable data models that turn raw data into real, actionable insights.

You'll take ownership of the Australian product, sales and operations data pipelines, partner closely with Product, Marketing, Sales and Support teams, and play a hands‑on role in building a data stack and culture that empowers the whole business to make faster, smarter and more confident decisions.

This is a role with genuine influence — you won’t just be maintaining dashboards, you’ll be shaping how an entire National business uses data.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Co‑designing and maintaining core energy market and optimisation data insights in close collaboration with the international team
• Taking ownership of the Australian data pipelines, acting as first responder to incidents and driving timely resolution
• Building and evolving data models across multiple domains — including Product, Energy Services, Sales and Operations
• Generating dashboards and reports spanning everything from department KPIs and energy market intelligence to validating household-level energy optimisation performance
• Actively educating and empowering stakeholders across the business with self‑serve tools and the knowledge to use them effectively
• Driving automation and integrations to enable the business to scale efficiently as it grows

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years’ experience in an analytics engineering, data engineering or closely related role
• Deep, hands‑on SQL expertise, along with strong experience using BigQuery and either dbt or SQLMesh
• Confidence working with at least one BI tool, with Looker experience considered a strong advantage
• A proven track record of defining, building and clearly communicating metrics to a wide range of stakeholders, from frontline staff through to senior executives
• Practical experience with data governance, including data catalogues, IAM and metadata management
• A genuinely independent working style — confident operating autonomously, unblocking yourself, and finding the right people to move things forward
• An understanding of data ingestion and software engineering principles for pipeline automation and data quality checks, ideally supported by Python skills
