Job summary

Babcock Australasia seeks an Analytics Developer to join our IT team in Adelaide. You will transform data into actionable insights, build Power BI dashboards, and partner with leaders to support performance and safety initiatives.

The role focuses on HSE data, designing analytics with SQL Server, SSIS, SharePoint and Excel, ensuring data quality and governance to drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

Qualifications

  • Security clearance to a Defence level is required.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics or related field is essential.
  • Certifications in BI tools (e.g., Microsoft BI, SQL, Power BI) are advantageous.
  • Proven experience as BI Developer, Data Analyst or Data Engineer in a relevant domain.
  • Hands-on experience with BI tools and platforms (SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, QlikView, Cognos).
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel and SharePoint for reporting and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain BI solutions to transform data into actionable insights.
  • Translate business requirements into dashboards, reports and analytics.
  • Maintain data quality, governance and performance of the reporting environment.
  • Support safety and operational performance monitoring through data analytics.

About the Role

Due to continued growth, Babcock is seeking an Analytics Developer to join our expanding IT team. Reporting to the IXI & Application Services Team Leader, this role will be instrumental in transforming data into actionable insights that support business performance, operational excellence, and our commitment to ensuring everyone gets Home Safe Every Day. With a strong focus on Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) data, you will develop innovative analytics and reporting solutions that empower leaders to make informed decisions, enhance safety outcomes, and drive continuous improvement across the organisation.

Working closely with stakeholders across the business, including the Australasian Information Exploitation team and HSE function, you will design, develop and maintain business intelligence solutions using tools such as Power BI, SQL Server, SSIS, SharePoint and Excel. You'll translate business requirements into meaningful dashboards, reports and analytical insights, enabling data-driven decision-making and supporting key operational and strategic objectives.

You’ll also play a key role in maintaining and enhancing Babcock’s reporting and analytics environment, ensuring data quality, system performance and governance standards are upheld. Your work will directly support safety performance monitoring, employee wellbeing initiatives, occupational health programs and compliance reporting, helping to create safer outcomes for our people.

To be successful, you will bring:
  • Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Relevant technology certifications (e.g., Microsoft BI, SQL, Power BI).
  • Proven experience as a BI Developer, Data Analyst, or Data Engineer in a related domain.
  • Hands‑on experience with Business Intelligence tools and platforms, such as: Microsoft BI Stack (SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI), Tableau, QlikView, Cognos, or similar technologies.
  • Proficiency in SQL queries, Excel, and SharePoint for reporting and collaboration.
