Leaders IT is seeking a software development professional to design, code, test and install applications across platforms. You will prepare and maintain system documentation and assist in analysis and design with users and Business Analysts.

You will modify and troubleshoot applications, liaise with users and contribute to testing, with emphasis on delivering reliable, well-documented software solutions and smooth post-implementation support.

Main Activities

Designing, coding, testing and installing applications programs up to75% of the time, either in one major program or a range of programs across multiple platforms.
Preparing and maintaining systems and program documentation.
Assisting in the analysis and design of applications programs anddatabases.
Modifying and troubleshooting applications programs.
Liaising with users.

Core responsibilities:

Development:

• Work with Business Analysts to analyse business processes, proceduresand user requirements in order to establish system requirements.
• Participate in system design including production of system andprogram documentation as well as ongoing maintenance
• Develop solutions and specifications so that agreed requirements canbe converted into functional systems
• Develop, program and code technology applications software solutionsto meet agreed specifications. Improve, enhance and correct systems as necessary
• Achieve key Systems Development Life Cycle stages in terms ofquantity, timing and quality of all aspects of work allocated
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with required standards,methods and procedures

Support:

• Create development and support documentation and provide adviceregarding applications to enable support function to work pro-actively
• Contribute to conduct of post implementation reviews to assess theeffectiveness of the testing solution provided
• Contribute to the review and redesign of processes or procedures, onan ongoing basis, to deliver improved team productivity or efficiency
• Provide key support on fail and fix for assigned application/s

Testing:

• Undertake complex testing activities in relation to software solutionsensuring these meet agreed specifications
• Develop comprehensive test scripts and scenarios based on testing planin accordance with standard procedures and templates
• Execute test cases, check and document results to ensure the systemstechnical, functional andnon-functional (e.g. elementary load testing) requirements are met
• Contribute to testing of any actions taken to rectify users# problemsto ensure user and system requirements are met and that changesintegrate with production system
• Make initial diagnosis of problems, for a system or sub-system orapply known solutions, including documenting problems, progresschecking, and escalation to ensure resolution

Additional responsibilities:

• Appropriately use progress/tracking tools and complete administrationactivities
• Test, launch and help train users in new systems
• Work with business users (in conjunction with Business Analysts) toclarify requirements, resolve issues
• Document systems and produce desk procedures for ongoing user use. Enduser support/ 2nd level Help Desk
• Contribute to maintaining operating environments to enable testingwhich reflects user environments
• May undertake evaluation and quality reviews of system developmentprocesses and practices and thereby contribute to the overalleffectiveness of the function/ team.
