Permanent - Full time, Junior, Mid-level

The Corporate Development team within Macquarie Asset Management's Central Group operates as an internal M&A and strategic advisory team reporting directly to the Global Head of our business, and the Executive Committee. The team is responsible for driving our inorganic and strategic growth agenda globally, executing corporate transactions (acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures, seed capital investments, and platform lift-outs), leading strategic business reviews, and launching new capabilities and distribution channels.

As a member of a lean, high-performing global team distributed across Sydney, Hong Kong, and New York, you will play an integral role across all phases of the corporate transaction lifecycle, from thesis generation, commercial evaluation, and financial modelling, through to transaction structuring, due diligence, negotiation, and post-transaction integration.

We are a global financial services group operating in 30 markets with 57 years of unbroken profitability. At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that is fulfilling and creates value. You will bring your insights and expertise to the task at hand and feel supported as you make your own kind of impact for a better future.

What role will you play?

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the organisation’s strategic growth agenda through the evaluation, execution and integration of acquisitions, partnerships and other corporate transactions. You will lead detailed financial analysis and valuation activities, develop robust business cases and financial models, coordinate cross-functional due diligence processes, and contribute to transaction structuring, negotiations and documentation. Your insights and recommendations will help inform critical investment and strategic decisions across the business.

You will also work closely with senior leaders to identify and assess new growth opportunities, shape strategic initiatives, and evaluate evolving market and competitive dynamics. Partnering with teams across operations, technology, risk, compliance, HR and finance, you will help deliver successful post-transaction integrations, monitor value creation outcomes, and prepare high-quality materials for executive and board-level stakeholders. Through strong internal and external relationship management, you will help position the organisation to capitalise on emerging opportunities and achieve its long‑term strategic objectives.

What you offer
  • 3-5 years of transaction and financial analysis experience within an Investment Bank (M&A or Financial Institutions Group is highly preferred), Private Equity firm, leading Corporate Development team or transaction advisory practice
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, Law, Engineering, or a related discipline; CFA, CA/CPA, or Master’s degree considered an advantage
  • Strong commercial familiarity with the asset management industry (alternative asset classes such as infrastructure, real estate, and private debt is highly regarded), including fund economics, fee structures, carried interest mechanisms, and regulatory considerations
  • Mastery of corporate finance principles, three-statement modelling, deal structuring, and valuation methodologies
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the agility to work across global time zones in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple concurrent workstreams.
What we offer

At Macquarie, you’re empowered to shape a career that’s rewarding in all the ways that matter most to you. Macquarie employees can access a wide range of benefits which, depending on employment type, include:

  • 1 wellbeing leave day per year
  • Up to 5 additional service bonus leave days per year
  • Up to 20 weeks’ paid parental leave for primary caregivers along with 12 days of transition leave upon return to work, and 6 weeks’ paid leave for non‑primary caregivers
  • 2 days of paid volunteer leave and donation matching
  • Up to 12 months’ gender affirmation leave, including 6 weeks’ paid leave
  • Access to Employee Assistance Program and wellbeing benefits including skin and health checks, and flu vaccinations
  • Access to a wide range of salary packaging options
  • Access to a wide range of learning and development opportunities, including reimbursement for professional membership or subscription
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements, dependent on role
  • Reimbursement for work from home equipment
