Job summary

QIC Ventures, a Queensland-based investor, seeks an Analyst to explore how world changes and support ambitious founders. You will evaluate emerging technologies, assess opportunities and assist the investment lifecycle from sourcing to portfolio support.

You will work with a team backing technology companies with global potential, leveraging AI tools, market analysis and due diligence to drive high‑impact investments within a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in venture capital, private equity, investment banking or equivalent rigorous analytics.
• Strong analytical and financial skills including modelling and market research.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of distilling complex information into clear insights.

Responsibilities

• Support investment opportunities through sourcing, market analysis, diligence and execution.
• Conduct market and technology research to develop unique investment perspectives.
• Prepare Investment Committee materials with theses, risks and recommendations.
• Participate in founder meetings and capture insights for follow-up analysis.

The Role

We are looking for an Analyst who wants to spend their time understanding how the world is changing, partnering with ambitious founders and identifying important companies before they are obvious. You will bring strong judgment, intellectual curiosity and a desire to contribute to a team that backs technology companies from Queensland and beyond.

As an Analyst, you'll evaluate emerging technologies, assess investment opportunities and work alongside ambitious founders building businesses with global potential. You'll support the investment lifecycle through market research, investment analysis, due diligence and portfolio support.

Key Responsibilities

• Support investment opportunities through sourcing, market analysis, commercial diligence, financial assessment and execution.
• Conduct research on markets, technologies, companies and investment themes to develop unique insights and investment perspectives.
• Prepare and contribute to Investment Committee materials, including investment theses, opportunity assessments, key risks and recommendations.
• Participate in meetings with founders, venture capital investors, ecosystem partners and portfolio companies, capturing insights and driving follow-up analysis.
• Support portfolio monitoring and value creation initiatives across a range of venture-backed companies.
• Contribute to the development of AI-enabled tools, workflows and knowledge platforms that improve sourcing, diligence, portfolio management and team productivity.
• Build and maintain relationships across the technology ecosystem, including founders, investors, universities, accelerators and research institutions.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working across the QIC Ventures platform.
• Contribute to the operating rhythm of the team, including reporting, portfolio reviews, and internal materials that keep decisions and actions on track.

About You

You are an analytically strong and intellectually curious early-career professional with a passion for technology, innovation and venture investing. You combine sound commercial judgement with a proactive mindset and enjoy evaluating opportunities, identifying emerging trends and solving complex problems.

Exposure to early stage investing, technology and startup environments will be highly regarded. While a background in business, finance, engineering or another STEM discipline is preferred, we value capability, curiosity and potential over specific credentials and welcome diverse career pathways.

You Will Bring

• Around 2+ years' experience in venture capital, angel investing, private equity, investment banking, management consulting, engineering, or a similarly rigorous analytical environment.
• Strong analytical and financial skills, including financial modelling, market research, investment analysis and commercial assessment.
• Unusual agency and the ability to make things happen, structure ambiguous problems and push work forward when there is no playbook.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex information into clear insights.
• Deep curiosity for technology and founders, with a habit of going beyond surface-level research to understand why a company, market or technology could matter.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Learning velocity, coachability and resilience; comfortable taking feedback, operating under challenge and maintaining a high standard of output during busy periods.
• A collaborative, low-ego mindset and the ability to build strong relationships.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with practical experience leveraging AI tools.
