Job summary

Impact Ag Australia is seeking an experienced analyst to join the team on a 12-month parental leave cover contract, based in the Armidale office or working remotely. You will combine financial analysis with agricultural data to support asset performance and budgeting across diverse farming enterprises.

Reporting to the Operations Analytics Lead, you will develop forecasts, prepare reports for clients and investors, and turn data into actionable insights to inform strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree required with 5+ years in an analytical role, preferably in agriculture.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial and operational data.
• Ability to translate complex information into clear insights and recommendations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build trusted relationships with operational teams.
• Experience preparing reports/presentations for clients and investors.
• Proactive mindset and interest in regenerative agriculture.

Responsibilities

• Collect and interpret agricultural, financial, environmental and production data.
• Analyse financial and operational performance and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Develop farm budgets, forecasts and annual plans with operational teams.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports, including scenario analysis.
• Prepare client and investor reports and performance updates highlighting key drivers.
• Prepare capital development feasibility assessments and track performance against assumptions.
• Analyse commodity markets, industry trends and developments to inform recommendations.
• Conduct research and SWOT analyses to support business and investment decisions.
• Support strategic initiatives and priority projects; improve data collection and reporting processes.

About the role

Impact Ag Australia is seeking an experienced full-time Analyst to join the team on a 12-month parental leave cover contract.

As an Analyst, you will combine financial analysis, agricultural data and commercial thinking to support asset performance. Based in the Armidale office or working remotely, you will report to the Operations Analytics Lead and collaborate with operational teams and internal stakeholders to understand performance across farming enterprises. You will contribute to budgeting and forecasting, client and investor reporting, capital development feasibility assessments and performance tracking, and turn data into meaningful insights that support better business decisions.

This is a varied role with exposure to a diverse range of agricultural enterprises, including cattle breeding and trading, lamb and wool production, irrigated cotton, broadacre cropping and permanent trees.

Importantly, this isn't a role where you will simply be working with spreadsheets. You will have the opportunity to understand the story behind the numbers, work alongside operational teams and contribute to decisions that have a real impact on agricultural businesses.

More specifically, your duties include:

• Collecting and interpreting agricultural, financial, environmental and production data
• Analysing financial and operational performance and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency
• Working with operational teams to develop farm budgets, forecasts and annual plans
• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports, including scenario analysis
• Preparing clear client and investor reports and performance updates that explain key results, drivers and insights
• Preparing capital development feasibility assessments and tracking performance against approved assumptions
• Analysing commodity markets, industry trends and developments to inform recommendations
• Conducting research and SWOT analysis to support business and investment decisions
• Supporting strategic initiatives, advisory engagements and other priority projects
• Improving data collection, reporting and performance tracking processes

About you

We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, curious and analytical, with the ability to look beyond the numbers and understand what they mean for an agricultural business.

You will ideally bring:

• A relevant graduate degree and 5+ years' experience in an analytical role, with exposure to agriculture
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial and operational data
• The ability to turn complex information into clear insights and recommendations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with operational teams
• Confidence preparing reports and presentations for clients and investors
• A proactive mindset and genuine interest in identifying opportunities and improving processes
• An interest in and understanding of regenerative agriculture principles
