Job summary

Parks Victoria in the Gippsland Alps (Omeo) is seeking an experienced Ranger to plan for and deliver park services under the Ranger Team Leader. Duties include clearing 4WD tracks, maintaining visitor site amenities, supervising volunteers and monitoring flora and fauna.

The Omeo region offers a diverse landscape within Alpine National Park. Accredited Rangers may assist with fire and emergency response and planned burning.

Qualifications

• Qualifications and practical experience in environmental and natural resource management or related field.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with visitors and stakeholders.
• Ability to work both in a team and autonomously in remote park locations.

Responsibilities

• Plan for and deliver park services as directed by the Ranger Team Leader.
• Clear 4WD tracks, brush cut walking trails, and maintain visitor site amenities.
• Supervise volunteers, monitor flora and fauna, and control weeds and pests.
• Provide information to visitors and support junior ranger programs.
• Assist with fire and emergency response and planned burning where accredited.
