Job summary

South Western Sydney Local Health District invites applications for an Allied Health Assistant in the Transitional Aged Care Program (TACP) based in Fairfield. You will help deliver therapy and care at clients’ homes, supporting home exercise programs and self-care retraining under supervision of Allied Health Professionals.

The role is a temporary full-time position (38 hours per week) until January 2027, with visa holders considered.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or relevant qualification.
  • Minimum 12 months full-time equivalent relevant experience with commitment to undertake the Certificate IV in AHA within 12 month period.
  • Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2) required; NSW license conversion within three months if licensed elsewhere.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver therapy and care in clients’ homes under supervision of Allied Health Professionals.
  • Support interventions such as home exercise programs, self-care retraining, community access and transport to appointments.
  • Contribute to clinical and administrative activities to support service delivery.

Remuneration: Allied Health Assistant Level 2-3: $1,287.66 - $1,423.69 per week+ 12% Superannuation + Salary Packaging

TACP is a unique, client‑centred reablement program that supports older people to maximise their health, wellbeing and quality of life within the community. As an Allied Health Assistant, you will play an important role in delivering therapy and care in clients’ homes, supporting interventions such as home exercise programs, self‑care retraining, community access and transport to appointments. Working under the guidance of Allied Health Professionals and Team Leaders, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to helping older adults achieve the best possible outcomes while maintaining their independence and connection to the community.

Selection Criteria

To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

  • Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or relevant qualification or Minimum 12 months full-time equivalent relevant experience with commitment to undertake the Certificate IV in AHA within 12 month period.
  • Can you describe a time when you were delegated a task by a supervising Allied Health Professional that required you to manage competing priorities? How did you ensure you stayed within your scope of practice, met deadlines, and sought assistance when needed?
  • In your previous roles, how have you adapted your communication style to effectively interact with both clinical staff and patients? Can you also share how you’ve applied Work Health and Safety principles in a healthcare setting?
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2).
    • Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment.
    • Learner's licenses are not permitted.
