Job summary

Brown Enterprises Pty Ltd is seeking a skilled Alarm Technician/Service Technician to join our Townsville team in Queensland. The role involves installing, maintaining and troubleshooting alarm systems for residential and commercial clients across the Townsville region.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or recognised certification in Fire Alarm Panels - QBCC Occupational License.
• Proven experience as an Alarm Technician or similar role within the Fire industry
• Solid knowledge of alarm system components, wiring, configuration and troubleshooting procedures
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and installation manuals
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues efficiently
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
• Valid driver's licence for attending multiple job sites
• Physical fitness to lift equipment and work safely at heights where required
• Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach to service delivery
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of current security technology trends and smart home integration is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and test alarm systems including sensors, keypads, control panels and monitoring equipment at client premises
• Perform routine maintenance and servicing of existing alarm systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability
• Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctioning alarm systems and implement appropriate repairs or replacements
• Respond to emergency service calls and provide technical support to resolve system faults promptly ( Some on call may be required on occasion.)
• Conduct thorough system testing and quality assurance checks following installation or repairs
• Maintain accurate records of all work completed, including service reports and customer documentation
• Provide clear technical advice and guidance to clients regarding their alarm systems and security options
• Comply with all safety regulations, building codes and industry standards whilst carrying out work
• Liaise with customers, supervisors and other team members to ensure seamless service delivery
• Carry out other routine service work on Fire Equipment
