Job summary

Airport Development Group (ADG) is seeking an Airside Manager to drive safe, compliant day-to-day airport operations and to oversee airside facilities, staffing and procedures. You will interact with internal and external stakeholders to maintain high standards of service, safety and security at the airport.

The role requires leading a small team, applying CASA regulations, and coordinating emergency response activities as part of a broader environmental and safety program.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of CASA and Australian aviation legislation.

Responsibilities

• Continuously improve operational processes and systems for airside safety.
• Report on incidents, hazards and issues; coordinate timely investigations.
• Review Daily Operations Reports and ensure accurate data in databases.
• Provide relief for the Head of Operations when required.
• Oversee day-to-day airside operations and coordination of facilities.
• Coordinate airside training, assessments and committee meetings.
• Ensure proper permits and notify stakeholders for maintenance work.
• Respond to Airport Emergency Plan activations and environmental events.

Job description

As Airside manager you are accountable for the delivery of efficient day-to-day airport operations; primarily focusing on airside operations safety and compliance. You will provide a high level of customer service on a face-to-face basis to key internal/external stakeholders and the public through the delivery of airside facilities and services in a safe, secure and timely manner.

You will be responsible for developing and managing operational processes and systems to improve airfield safety and ensure airside stakeholders Service Level Agreements are met.

What You Will Do

• Continuously improve operational processes and systems, including managing plans, procedures and other operational documents. Systems include, but are not limited to, Business Continuity Plans, Aerodrome Operations Manual, DIA Standard Operating Procedures, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, and the Airside Vehicle Control Program.
• Report on and investigate incidents, accidents, hazards and other issues in a timely manner in accordance with company requirements.
• Review and manage Daily Operations Reports. Work closely with the Senior Operations Coordinator and Terminal and Airside Operations Officers to ensure all reporting and recording of information in respective databases are completed and accurate.
• Participate in, and assist with, training, exercises and relevant industry seminars as required.
• Provide relief for the ADG Head of Operations in their absence when required.
• Oversee day-to-day airport operations; including providing airside support and undertaking the duties of the Terminal and Airside Operations Officer as required.
• Oversee the training and assessment of DIA Terminal and Airside Operations Officers.
• Oversee the coordination, provision and allocation of airside facilities such as apron parking bays.
• Ensure that airside maintenance and works are notified to stakeholders in a timely manner, including ensuring that proper Permits are in place and that work is carried out safely and in accordance with approvals.
• Respond to activations of the Airport Emergency Plan in accordance with procedures. Working closely with ADG Head of Airside, providing operational support to the Airside Operations Officers for an Aerodrome Emergency.
• Respond to environmental incidents and manage in accordance with the Environmental Management System.
• Chair DIA Committee Meetings, including Airside Safety Operations Committee and other meetings as required.
• Provide airside compliance and operational input to airside related projects

About You

• Demonstrated knowledge and extensive experience in the application of Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and Department of Home Affairs Regulations and relevant Australian aviation legislation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small team.
• Understanding of Safety Management principles.
• Demonstrated ability to take control and accept responsibility during an emergency.
• Extensive knowledge of airport, airline and airside operations.

For this position, it is essential that you have or can quickly gain the following for this position:

NT driver’s licence, Certificate III in Airport Airside Operations, Aviation Security Identification Card. NT Firearms Licence and hold the company licence, First Aid certificate and apply first aid as required. CASA Radio Operators Certificate of Proficiency and CASA DAMP Supervisor certificate.
