Reporting to the Senior Base Engineer, this Darwin-based role is responsible for undertaking aircraft maintenance within the scope of their competency, maintaining accurate aircraft records, identifying and reporting defects, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with RFDS maintenance procedures and engineering systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide temporary relief maintenance support at other RFDS bases when required.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture and support safety, quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You

You are a practical and proactive aircraft maintenance professional who takes pride in completing work safely, accurately and to a high standard. You can determine priorities, work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with engineers, operational teams and other stakeholders.

You bring good problem-solving skills, initiative and a collaborative approach, and understand the importance of following established maintenance processes and maintaining accurate records in a safety-critical aviation environment.

To be successful, you will bring:
  • A Certificate IV in Aeroskills, or a minimum of four years in the last six years or equivalent experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • The ability to determine priorities and achieve deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Well-developed communication and organisational skills.
  • Good problem-solving abilities.
  • A high level of initiative and drive.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • A current Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Eligibility to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).

Experience contributing to a safety management system or quality improvement framework, an understanding of rural and remote Australia, and a First Aid Certificate will be highly regarded. Some travel and temporary maintenance support at other RFDS bases may be required.

As part of our team, you will be supported to achieve your best while contributing to meaningful work that makes a real difference.
