Job summary

Coulson Aviation Australia is seeking enthusiastic Aircrew Officers to join Bell 412 operations in New South Wales. The role involves aerial firefighting, flood response, and crew/equipment transport, with a strong emphasis on safety and customer service.

You’ll work away from home base at short notice, joining a team in challenging environments and contributing to rapid aerial fire suppression and related missions.

Qualifications

• The right to live and work in Australia.
• Valid vehicle driver’s licence.
• Ability to obtain an Australian Class 2 Medical.
• Excellent crew resource management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a helicopter flight crew to ensure operations are safe and compliant.
• Maintain and service role equipment for each mission and arrange repairs when required.
• Ensure aircraft are ready for missions (cleanliness, equipment, configuration).
• Complete pre-flight and post-flight documentation and inspections.
• Conduct briefing and passenger administration for each mission.
• Assist in flight crew logistics when deployed.
• Provide flight-relevant data to the Pilot (clearances, movements, safety issues).
• Operate rescue hoist and associated equipment as required by Operations Manual.
• Perform duties in Front Left Seat (FLS) and use Night Vision Imaging Systems (NVIS) as qualified.
• Carry out other duties as allocated by senior staff.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We are currently seeking, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Aircrew Officers to join our Bell 412 operations in New South Wales, Australia.

The right candidate will have the ability to work in a team environment conducting aerial firefighting and flood response, crew/equipment transport, reconnaissance, search and rescue, disaster mitigation and related operations in support of emergency services. They must have a strong focus on safety and customer service.

The role requires flexibility and working away from home base at short notice and offers competitive salary and an emphasis on work/ life balance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work as part of a team in a helicopter flight crew to ensure all operations are conducted in a safe and compliant manner as required by the company operations manual.
• To ensure role equipment is maintained and in good condition for each mission and facilitate appropriate repair or maintenance of this equipment when required.
• Ensure aircraft are in a state of readiness regarding cleanliness, role equipment and appropriately configured, weighed, and secure for each mission.
• Complete pre-flight and post-flight documentation and inspections.
• Conduct briefing and passenger administration as required for the mission.
• Assist in the logistics of flight crew when deployed.
• Provide accurate visual observation and information to the Pilot of flight relevant data including clearances, personnel movements and flight safety related issues.
• Operate rescue hoist and associated role equipment IAW Coulson Aviation Australia Operations Manual.
• Perform duties in the Front Left Seat (FLS) and using Night Vision Imaging Systems (NVIS) as qualified.
• Conduct other duties as allocated by the Senior Aircrew Officer or Chief Pilot.

• Dangerous Goods Awareness Certificate of Competency
• Certificate IV Aviation (Aircrewman) AVI40116 or AVI40119
• Perform Non-Pilot cockpit duties experience or qualification
• NVIS Aircrew member.
