Job summary

IT Magnet Pty Ltd. in Sydney is seeking a software engineer who will shape client problems from the first conversation through production. You will prototype with AI, build full‑stack solutions, and own end‑to‑end delivery with real users.

You'll work with Python, C#, or TypeScript, discuss AI feasibility with clients, and collaborate with consultants and a solution architect. This is a hands-on role at a consultancy that delivers mission‑critical applications across industries.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of commercial software development experience.
• Experience building something with LLM APIs that went beyond a demo.
• Comfortable in client conversations and able to ask clarifying questions.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) is helpful.

Job description

Working alongside consultants and a solution architect, you will play a key role in uncovering what a client's business actually needs, and then build the software that solves it, with AI at the centre where it earns its place. Unlike a typical developer job, you will be involved from the start rather than receiving requirements as assigned tasks, and you will grow well beyond writing code. You will bring the technical view of what is possible, what AI can genuinely do for the problem and where conventional engineering is the better answer. You will turn that understanding into working software quickly, prototyping with large language models, retrieval, agents and automation, then building it out with full stack development through to deployment and support. You will own what you build end to end, your ideas will shape the solution, and your work will be in production with real users. As AI takes on more of the coding, the developers who lead will be those who understand the whole problem, and seeing every project from first conversation to live support will get you there far faster.
