Job summary

Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) is offering a temporary full-time position as Senior AI Prototyping Officer, with offices in Parramatta, Orange or Newcastle and flexible working options. Salary ranges from $133,348 to $146,945 per year plus super, until 30 June 2027.

You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to turn ideas into practical prototypes, testing and experimentation to support decision-making and future delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience building rapid AI prototypes to test feasibility, value and scalability.
• Experience designing, testing and refining AI prototype components and prompts.
• Knowledge of solution architecture, information security, privacy and responsible AI controls.
• Experience assessing emerging technologies and handover materials to enable adoption and reuse.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Department to make informed decisions about investing in AI, automation and digital innovation solutions.
• Rapidly develop and validate prototype solutions balancing architecture, security and responsible AI requirements.
• Translate complex business needs into workable prototype solutions and provide evidence and recommendations.
