Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Software Engineer for AI Infrastructure (Starshield) to design and operate GPU/CPU infrastructure across top‑secret datacenters and to deploy on‑prem Kubernetes/AI clusters. You will develop automation, support GPU as a service, and work with AI engineers to deliver scalable, reliable systems.

The role requires SRE/DevOps experience, Linux expertise, and hands-on Terraform/Ansible/Kubernetes skills, with potential domestic/global travel and extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems/IT, or an engineering discipline with 1+ years of SRE/DevOps experience; or 3+ years of SRE/DevOps in lieu of a degree.
• 1+ years of professional Linux experience.
• Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or other infrastructure tools.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, OCI containers).
• Development experience in Python, C++, or Go.

Responsibilities

• Manage GPU/CPU infrastructure deployments to Top Secret datacenters.
• Provide support for GPU as a service on bare metal and virtualized platforms.
• Design, validate, and productize AI cluster solutions at 100k+ GPU scale.
• Develop automation to deploy and manage on-prem Kubernetes/AI clusters and OSes.
• Deploy and manage core infrastructure: databases, monitoring, and distributed storage.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to create scalable, operable products.
• Engage in end-to-end lifecycle: design, deployment, operation, refinement.
• Monitor and alert supporting systems for high availability.
• Identify improvements and create innovative solutions for high availability.
