Job summary

East Gippsland Shire Council seeks a proactive Information Services professional to help protect corporate systems and guide AI governance in a local government setting. This full-time, 24-month role is based in Bairnsdale and Sale with a hybrid work model.

You will support business systems, advise on privacy and data risks, deliver training, and collaborate across council and partner organisations to implement practical, secure technology solutions.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or relevant experience in business systems compliance.
• Experience working with business systems, business analysis or process improvement.
• Knowledge of the Victorian Protective Data Security Standards and their application in a local government environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and recommend practical solutions.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide advice, deliver training and manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Support the management, maintenance and improvement of Council's business and information management systems.
• Provide advice on compliance, privacy, security and data risks associated with artificial intelligence, connected systems and emerging technologies.
• Develop and deliver business systems training, user education and practical guidance for employees.
• Support technology projects, including scoping, system enhancements, reporting, procurement, contracts and software licensing.
• Work with internal teams, software suppliers and partner councils to identify and implement effective business system solutions.
