News Corp Australia is recruiting for a Backend/AI Engineer to build and scale AI systems powering our editorial products. You will own agents, retrieval pipelines, and ensure high-quality outputs as we scale, while keeping costs and latency sensible.

Editorial Innovation builds and supports AI capability for our newsrooms. We’re a small team working directly with journalists and editors, taking ideas from prototype to something the newsroom uses every day.
In this role, you’ll build and scale the AI systems behind our editorial products: the agents, the retrieval, and the pipelines that run them. You’ll own the quality of what those systems produce, measure it properly, and keep cost and latency sensible as we scale. You’ll work directly with journalists and editors, whose judgment sets the bar.
