Exclaim IT is seeking a Forward Deployed AI Engineer to embed AI directly into real estate business units. You’ll run discovery, design and deliver AI solutions end-to-end, working closely with non-technical stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into production systems.
You’ll own projects from first conversation to deployment, using a Claude-native AI stack, and you’ll train teams to adopt the new tools. A startup/consulting background is a plus.
Exclaim IT is partnering with an established real estate organisation that has gone all in on AI. They have the scale and stability of a proven business and the appetite of a startup. AI isn’t a pilot here. Large language models, agentic systems and intelligent document processing already run through how the business operates every day.
Now they’re taking that capability out of the tech team and into the departments, and they need someone to lead the charge.
Let’s be clear about what this isn’t. It’s not a desk, a headset and a backlog of tickets. If you want to be handed a spec and left alone to code, this isn’t your role.
As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you’ll spend most of your week out in the business, sitting beside the people who do the work. You’ll listen, ask the questions nobody else is asking, and work out what’s really going on (it’s rarely what’s in the brief). You’ll challenge assumptions, rethink the process from scratch, then build the fix, ship it and stick around long enough to prove it worked. When it’s done, you rotate to a new department with a whole new set of problems and do it all again.
Your home base is a sharp AI engineering team running a Claude-native platform. You’re your own business analyst, product manager and delivery lead, owning every project from the first conversation to production. No layers, no committees, no hand holding.
You’ll run discovery inside the business, mapping how work really gets done and spotting where AI removes manual effort, risk or delay. You’ll turn what you find into a clear proposal with a baseline and a measure of success, then design, build and ship production systems such as agentic workflows, document processing and conversational assistants. You’ll integrate with the tools each team relies on, build everything securely, and measure the results honestly. Then you’ll train the team to use it, because adoption is part of the job.
A consultant with an engineer’s hands. You’re curious, a little bit fearless, and you think outside the box. You fully embrace AI and default to it for every problem, not as an afterthought. You can sit in a room of non-technical people, make them feel heard and walk out with a better idea than anyone expected.
You’ve also shipped the real thing. That means around 3 to 5 years building production AI systems (LLM applications, agentic workflows, RAG or document processing) with real users and real maintenance. You’re strong in Python, comfortable on AWS, and security minded from working with sensitive data.
A startup, scale-up, consulting or agency background is a big plus, as is experience building MCP tools or agent skills, voice AI, or front end work in React. If you’ve been wearing five hats and moving fast, you’ll fit right in.
No degree needed. What you’ve built and how you think matters more than a piece of paper.
Real variety, with new teams and new puzzles on a regular rotation. Full ownership of your work. A genuinely AI native environment where you won’t have to fight to use the good tools. A modern stack including Claude, MCP, AWS and Databricks. And the backing of an established business that actually wants you to push the boundaries.
You’ll need current Australian work rights and will be asked to complete a National Police Check.
