Job summary

Mercor is seeking mechanical and CAD engineers with 2-3 years of experience or postgraduate students to support a research project with a leading AI lab. You will work on real design workflows on your Mac to benchmark and improve AI models, with a structured, low-pressure setup and an immediate start.

Ideal candidates have hands-on 3D modeling, CAD tool proficiency (Fusion 360, Onshape, Shapr3D, FreeCAD), and good communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering with hands-on 3D modeling and drafting experience
• Currently pursuing or recently completed Masters, or 2-3 years of relevant experience + Bachelors from a prestigious institution
• Proficiency in Mac-compatible CAD tools (Fusion 360, Onshape, Shapr3D, FreeCAD) and familiarity with GD&T and engineering drawings
• Ability to clearly explain engineering decisions and strong written/verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Complete and narrate real mechanical design and CAD tasks on your Mac to create high-quality training data for advanced AI models
• Work through structured tasks with a focus on benchmark data for AI model training
• Operate with a balanced, low-pressure environment similar to internships or part-time projects
• Immediate start preferred
