Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Data Center Energy Lead to secure power capacity and accelerate energy delivery for its AI compute footprint in Australia. You will navigate the National Electricity Market, engage with regulators, and build strategic relationships to enable rapid energization across jurisdictions.

You will lead procurement strategies, manage stakeholder networks, and translate market dynamics into actionable capacity acceleration plans for Anthropic’s datacentre portfolio.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in energy procurement, utility development, or power markets for large-scale infrastructure projects in Australia.
• Deep expertise in Australian energy markets (NEM, WEM, NTEM) and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience securing power capacity and negotiating PPAs or offtake agreements.
• Ability to analyse energy market dynamics and regulatory instruments for strategic decisions.
• Strong stakeholder management with regulators, networks, and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative energy deployment strategies to accelerate energization.
• Lead energy procurement and markets strategy to secure multi-hundred MW capacity.
• Manage utility and regulatory stakeholder relationships across Australian jurisdictions.
• Monitor regulatory developments and engage policymakers to expedite approvals.
• Coordinate with engineering teams to translate market dynamics into capacity plans.
• Inform site selection and deployment through market intelligence on power availability.
• Structure commercial frameworks (PPAs, network use arrangements) to enable faster delivery.
