FAR Australia is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Research Director to join our growing national team. The role combines strategic leadership, applied field science and program delivery, and is responsible for driving the development, execution and impact of FAR Australia's research portfolio.

Key responsibilities

Lead and grow FAR Australia's national research portfolio.

Contribute as a member of the Senior Management Team.

Lead, mentor and develop a national research team.

Provide hands‑on leadership during peak field research periods.

About you

Strong practical understanding of the Australian cropping industry.

Demonstrated experience in agricultural research and programme delivery.

Proven leadership capability, including managing teams and complex projects.

Experience developing research strategy, innovation programs and stakeholder partnerships.

Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and report writing skills.

Relevant postgraduate qualifications in agriculture, agronomy or a related discipline.

Established professional profile at a regional or national level.

Experience collaborating with universities, research institutions and industry organisations.
