Job summary

IAG, a leading national insurer, is seeking an Agri Underwriter to determine acceptability, conditions and pricing of insurance risks for our business partners. This permanent full-time role is based in Ballarat or Naarm (Melbourne).

You will underwrite agricultural and related risks, support brokers, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure service quality and timely decisions.

Qualifications

• Experience as an underwriter or general insurance experience is valued.
• Demonstrable technical knowledge from previous roles.
• Customer focus with strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite insurance risks with brokers following product guidelines.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Assess risks and provide underwriting decisions.
• Assist brokers with underwriting queries by phone and email.

As an Agri Underwriter, you’ll determine the acceptability, conditions and pricing of insurance risks while delivering quality underwriting service for our business partners. This is a permanent full-time role based in either Ballarat or Naarm (Melbourne).

What You'll Do

• Work directly with brokers to underwrite insurance risks in line with product guidelines and influence partner advocacy at all available customer touchpoints


• Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders


• Assessment of risks


• Assisting brokers with underwriting queries by phone and email

What You'll Bring

• Experience as an Underwriter is highly regarded, or alternatively just general insurance experience


• Demonstrable technical knowledge and skills from your previous role/s


• Have a customer focus with good verbal and written communication skills


• Certificate IV in General Insurance is beneficial but not essential
