Job summary

Life Without Barriers is seeking an Aged Care Home & Community Assistant to provide personalised in-home support to older Australians in Newcastle and surrounding areas. You will travel between clients' homes, delivering daily living assistance with dignity and respect.

Casual shifts are available Monday to Friday with no evenings or overnight work. You’ll complete pre-employment checks, hold a Certificate III in Ageing Support or similar, a current First Aid/ CPR, and a valid driver’s license

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Ageing/Individual Support or similar.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
• Australian Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle with insurance.

Responsibilities

• Domestic duties such as cleaning tasks and household maintenance.
• Personal care including showering and daily hygiene.
• Transporting clients to medical appointments and activities.
• Support with daily tasks and routines.
• Build positive relationships with clients and families.

About the Role

As an Aged Care Home & Community Assistant you will provide personalised home care support to older Australians in Newcastle , helping them continue to live independently in their own homes.

You will travel between multiple clients homes across Newcastle and surrounding suburbs, so a willingness to travel is essential (you will be reimbursed $1.01 per KM travelled while you are working).

We have casual opportunities available with shifts available Monday to Friday . N o evening or overnight shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Domestic duties which may include but are not limited to: vacuuming, mopping, washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, emptying bins, washing and ironing

Personal care inclusive of showering, daily hygiene, monitoring of health and wellbeing

Transportation and community access to medical appointments and social activities

Provide support with daily tasks and routines

Build positive relationships with clients and their families

Skills & Experience

Certificate III in Individual Support, Ageing Support or similar

An Australian Driver’s Licence and reliable vehicle with minimum third-party insurance

Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships

A current First Aid and CPR Certificate

Successful candidates will be required to undertake relevant pre-employment checks to ensure the safety of our clients. This includes a National Criminal History Record Check and an Aged Care Statutory Declaration.
