Job summary

Southern Cross Care Queensland is seeking a Full-time Cook/Catering Assistant to join our Holland Park hospitality team. You will help prepare, cook and serve fresh, nutritious meals for residents and café customers, while upholding food safety and hygiene standards.

Working in a supportive not-for-profit environment, you will follow the Food Safety Program, assist with stock and menus, and deliver friendly service that reflects our values and commitment to person-centred care.

Qualifications

• Experience in preparing and cooking meals in a commercial kitchen or hospitality setting.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of food safety principles and HACCP practices (preferred).
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, plate and serve nutritious meals, snacks and beverages.
• Ensure meals are served on time with consistent quality and presentation.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness according to the Food Safety Program.
• Keep kitchen areas, dishes and utensils clean and organized.
• Assist with stock control, ordering and receiving of food supplies.
• Follow Workplace Health and Safety requirements and SCCQ procedures.
