Job summary

Southern Cross Care Queensland is seeking a friendly Cook/Catering Assistant to join our hospital ity team at Duhig Village, Holland Park, as a full-time role. You will prepare, cook and serve fresh meals for residents and café customers, ensuring high food safety and a warm dining experience.

You will work with a supportive team, enjoy a 14-day roster with various shifts, and benefit from Not-for-Profit salary sacrifice options plus staff development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial kitchen, café or hospitality environment.
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook meals to a high standard.
• Good knowledge of food safety principles and HACCP (preferred).
• Strong customer service and communication skills; compassion and patience.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Flexible with start times and weekend availability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, plate and serve nutritious meals, snacks and beverages, with cooking duties according to qualifications and experience.
• Ensure meals are served on time with consistent quality and presentation.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with the Food Safety Program.
• Clean dishes, kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils.
• Assist with stock control, ordering, receiving and storing food and supplies.
• Complete basic kitchen records, including meal counts and food safety documentation.
• Follow Workplace Health and Safety requirements and SCCQ procedures.
• Work with the Hospitality team to provide a positive dining experience for residents.
