Job summary

Central Victorian Welding and Fabrication in Axedale, VIC is seeking an experienced Maintenance/Mechanical Fitter/Boilermaker for the afternoon shift. This casual role starts with potential to become full-time for the right person.

You’ll undertake maintenance, mechanical repairs and fabrication work, helping keep equipment operating safely and efficiently. A hands‑on role for reliable tradespeople who take pride in workmanship and problem solving.

Qualifications

• A recognised trade qualification in mechanical fitting, boilermaking or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in maintenance, mechanical repairs or boilermaking within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
• Confidence using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment.
• Sound welding knowledge and the ability to carry out welding tasks as required.
• Strong fault-finding skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
• A reliable approach to attendance, safety and workmanship.
• Availability to work afternoon shift.
• Relevant tickets and training, including confined space, working at heights and forklift operation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
• Complete preventative maintenance checks and safety inspections.
• Fabricate, assemble and install components using appropriate tools and welding techniques.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance completed and parts used.
• Work safely and follow company procedures and workplace safety requirements.
• Work with the team to meet production schedules and client requirements.
• Identify and report equipment issues and opportunities for improvement.
