Job summary

Koko Black is seeking a hands-on Kitchen Team Leader for the Afternoon Shift in Victoria. You will coordinate and support the kitchen team, ensuring ingredients and components are prepared safely and to quality standards, while leading and developing staff in a fast-paced production environment.

As a hands-on leader, you will monitor daily priorities, coach team members, and collaborate with QA, Maintenance and Supply Chain to maintain smooth production and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a commercial kitchen, pastry kitchen, or food manufacturing.
• Hands-on leadership style with ability to inspire and develop the team.
• Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and allergen management.
• Excellent communication and collaborative approach.
• Strong organisation to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to consistency, continuous improvement and high-quality outcomes.
• Ability to provide timely feedback and escalate issues when needed.
• Passion for pastry, craftsmanship, and premium products.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily production plan within prep and pastry kitchen areas.
• Allocate tasks and provide direction to team members.
• Monitor quality, yield and presentation throughout preparation.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients.
• Adhere to cleaning, hygiene, food safety, and SOPs; escalate hazards when required.
• Ensure production, temperature, allergen and quality checks are completed and recorded.
• Provide coaching and feedback to team members.
• Assist onboarding and skill development across kitchen teams.
• Collaborate with Shift Manager, QA, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to resolve issues.
