Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Optical Inter-Satellite Link team, focusing on ground support equipment design for payloads and production tooling. You will create 3D/2D designs in Siemens NX, perform analyses, and collaborate across hardware, reliability, and firmware teams in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

We value a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, experience with PCBA fabrication and fiber-optic handling, GD&T, and experience in production

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with prototyping and implementation.
• Experience with PCBA fabrication and electronic enclosures design.
• Experience with fiber-optic handling.
• Experience with CAD design in NX, TeamCenter.
• Experience in DFM/DFA and manufacturing process development.
• Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with production fixturing and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead 3D and 2D mechanical design and analysis for GSE for payloads in NX.
• Collaborate with multiple spacecraft design and integration teams.
• Participate in design reviews and build/qualify fixtures and tooling.
