The Office of the Guardian for Children and Young People in Adelaide is seeking an ASO6 Advocate (Aboriginal Identified Role) to support statutory functions and engage with children in care or detention.

The Advocate provides individual and systemic advocacy, maintains case notes, contributes to reporting, and collaborates on policy projects; travel may be required. A Working with Children Check is required before employment.

Qualifications

• Desirable: An appropriate degree or relevant tertiary qualification.

Responsabilités

• Engage with children and young people in care or youth detention, assess matters and advocate on their behalf.
• Provide specialist advocacy for individual children to resolve serious issues.
• Respond to queries within the Guardian’s mandate and undertake individual and systemic advocacy when required.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date case notes and records.
• Contribute to reporting and monitoring requirements in the office.
• Collaborate with staff on projects and policy work addressing systemic issues.
