Infrastructure Australia is seeking an Advisor - Planning and Insights to deliver high-quality research and evidence-based analysis informing infrastructure policy and reform. You will work in a high‑performing team on priority projects that support housing growth, energy transition and resilient networks.

The role requires tertiary qualifications, strong data skills, and effective stakeholder engagement with government and industry.

Qualifications

• Experience undertaking qualitative and quantitative research and analysis using evidence from across Australia.
• Ability to synthesise evidence, identify insights and translate findings into clear, practical written products.
• Sound stakeholder engagement skills across government, industry, community or research organisations.
• Sound project coordination skills, managing competing tasks and deadlines.
• Experience contributing to policy analysis or research activities in infrastructure or related field.

Responsibilities

• Support high-quality qualitative and quantitative research using national evidence to generate insights on infrastructure needs.
• Contribute to Planning and Insights projects from inception to publication, including scoping, research, QA and engagement.
• Support engagement activities with Communications and Engagement team to communicate findings and inform outcomes.
• Coordinate external technical experts, monitor deliverables and ensure quality standards.
• Contribute analysis and advice to Infrastructure Australia's major products and statutory outputs.

Infrastructure Australia (IA) is an independent statutory body within the Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts portfolio.

Primary purpose of the role

The Advisor - Planning and Insights contributes to the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based research and analysis that informs infrastructure policy, planning and reform.

Working as part of a high-performing team, the role supports the delivery of priority projects that advance Australian Government objectives, including housing growth, the energy transition and enabling modern and resilient infrastructure networks. The role draws on research, analysis and stakeholder engagement to strengthen the quality, impact and practical application of the team’s work.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the undertaking of high quality qualitative and quantitative research and analysis using evidence from across Australia to generate insights on future infrastructure needs and priorities.
• Contribute to Planning and Insights projects from inception to publication, including project scoping, research, quality assurance and stakeholder engagement.
• Support targeted engagement activities in partnership with the Communications and Engagement team to communicate findings, test implications and inform project outcomes.
• Support the engagement and coordination of external technical experts, monitoring deliverables against agreed requirements, timeframes and quality standards.
• As required, contribute analysis, evidence and advice to Infrastructure Australia's major products and statutory outputs, including the Infrastructure Audit, Infrastructure Priority List, Infrastructure Plan, annual Budget Statement and other Australian Government and Parliamentary requirements.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of internal data systems.
• Experience undertaking qualitative and quantitative research and analysis using a range of evidence sources.
• Ability to synthesise evidence, identify relevant insights and translate findings into clear, practical and high quality written products.
• Sound stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build collaborative working relationships across government, industry, community or research organisations.
• Sound project coordination skills, including the ability to manage competing tasks, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated commitment to Infrastructure Australia's values of being dynamic, connected and purposeful.
• Experience contributing to policy analysis or research activities, preferably within infrastructure or a related field.
• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
• Experience working with complex datasets or applying analytical methods to support research and advice.
