Job summary

Whitehaven Coal is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor for the Vickery Open Cut mine near Gunnedah, NSW. You will help develop and implement internal health and safety strategies and support operations, contractors, and corporate teams.

The role offers relocation support, a 9-day fortnight roster, generous leave provisions and a collaborative culture aligned with our STRIVE values. You will participate in incident investigations and risk assessments to ensure NSW WH&S compliance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of NSW WH&S legislation and statutory requirements.
• Experience with site health and safety systems and governance.
• Demonstrated passion for Whitehaven STRIVE values and collaborative culture.
• Experience in the mining industry is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing internal health and safety strategies, plans and policies.
• Facilitate or participate in incident investigations, risk assessments and management of change.
• Monitor site emergency preparedness and response equipment.
• Support WHS Committee meetings, pre-start and toolbox talks.
• Provide ongoing compliance support to Operations, Contractors and Corporate Teams.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor at our Vickery Open Cut operation conveniently located a short 20-minute drive from Gunnedah. Gunnedah is a great regional town with abundant walking trails, fishing, water sports, and various cafes and restaurants. The region is rich in history with museums and Australian wildlife.

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunityfor an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join us as part of at our Vickery Open Cut mine.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in the development and implementation of internal health and safety strategies, plans and policies
• Facilitate and/or participate in incident investigations, risk assessments and management of change processes
• Monitor the sites emergency preparedness and response equipment and capabilities
• Support and participate in site WHS Committee meetings, pre-start and toolbox meetings
• Monitor compliance and provide on-going support to Operations, Contractors and Corporate Teams.

What You’ll Bring

• Knowledge of NSW WH&S Legislation and statutory requirements
• Experience with Onsite & SharePoint or similar systems
