Job summary

Mater Private Hospital Mackay is seeking a casual Administrator to provide high-level administrative support to clinical and operational teams, improving patient experience and data quality. You’ll balance priorities with autonomy and contribute to continuous improvement in a hospital setting.

The role involves reception management, health fund checks, patient payments, bookings, rostering support and transcription tasks, with a focus on service excellence and teamwork within the Administration

  • Experience working within a hospital, healthcare or medical setting (desirable).
  • Knowledge of health information systems and patient administration processes.

Responsibilities

  • Providing a high level of administrative support to clinical and operational teams.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, medical practitioners and staff.
  • Managing reception activities, including patient admissions and discharges.
  • Conducting health fund eligibility checks and processing patient payments.
  • Supporting bookings, appointments, admissions and course enrolments.
  • Assisting with banking reconciliation, purchasing and inventory management.
  • Coordinating maintenance requests and general operational support activities.
  • Performing clinical transcription, records management and patient information requests.
  • Monitoring and maintaining data quality, identifying and correcting discrepancies as required.
  • Supporting rostering activities in line with relevant work instructions and enterprise agreements.

About the role

Mater Private Hospital Mackay has an exciting opportunity for a customer-focused Administrator to join our team in a casual position. In this role you will be providing high-quality administrative support while contributing to the delivery of exceptional service for our patients, visitors and clinical teams.

Working closely with the Administration Team Leader/Manager and wider multidisciplinary team, you will proactively manage a range of administrative, business support and coordination activities. You will work with a degree of autonomy, balancing competing priorities while maintaining a strong focus on patient experience, data quality, operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

Salary range: $39.79 – $44.25 per hour plus superannuation and access to not‑for‑profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing
