Job summary

AIG Australia Limited in Sydney is seeking an Actuarial Analyst, Managing General Agent (MGA) to join a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will support pricing, profitability analysis, and portfolio management for MGAs across Australia and New Zealand.

Reporting to the MGA Actuarial lead, you will develop pricing models, monitor performance, and collaborate with underwriters and distribution to drive sustainable growth and value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other quantitative degrees.
• Prior general insurance experience.
• Experience in programming across Python, R, and SQL.
• Experience with databases and data extraction/manipulation.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
• Proven collaboration delivering quality, accurate results.
• Professional integrity with strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong project and time management and communication skills.
• Strong oral and written communication and stakeholder relationship ability.

Responsibilities

• Support proactive portfolio management to ensure sustainable profitable growth.
• Support development and implementation of best practice portfolio management tools, including top line metrics and lead indicators.
• Support regular profitability assessments.
• Assist with pricing/rating model development and refinement; apply predictive analytics where appropriate.
• Contribute to profitability studies and budget loss ratio analyses by segment.
• Assist due diligence for new MGA opportunities.
• Engage with underwriters, functions and MGAs to provide strategic direction.
• Assist in other ad-hoc analyses as required.
