Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Margate. You’ll work a rotating shift, 35 hours per week, including some weekends. Salary is £13.68 per hour (£24,898 per year) with paid overtime and a 6-month fixed-term contract.

Full training, a uniform, and a trusted van are provided. Expect outdoor work, delivering letters and parcels, building relationships with customers, and handling high volumes during peak periods.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 35:00hours per week – working days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 06:30/15:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Ramsgate Delivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
