JD Security is a proudly Australian, family-owned business with over 40 years of experience delivering electronic security solutions. We are seeking a detail-focused Assistant Accountant to join our Accounts Team, based at our Wetherill Park head office.

This role supports payroll, month-end close and day-to-day reconciliations so it suits someone who enjoys numbers, works to firm deadlines and wants to build broader experience across finance.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years' experience in an accounts or payroll support role.
• Experience with Employment Hero is highly regarded.
• Experience with MYOB and Dext is highly regarded; exposure to SimPRO or similar is a bonus.
• Understanding of GST, BAS and month-end processes.
• Studying towards or holding a qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping or similar is an advantage.
• Strong Excel skills and working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Outlook, Teams).
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to meet fixed weekly and monthly deadlines.
• The right to work in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Support the fortnightly payroll cycle in Employment Hero, including loading timesheets, checking leave and overtime, reviewing pays and finalising pay runs and payslips as backup.
• Monitor leave approvals and prepare weekly new starter reporting for payroll setup.
• Assist with month-end close, including cost allocation and accrual journals, trial balance review and finalising reports for approval.
• Complete the monthly GST transaction review in preparation for BAS lodgement.
• Perform daily credit card reconciliations and follow up missing invoices and GL allocations.
• Manage the Dext workflow, including supplier setup, GL coding accuracy and ensuring invoices are approved on time.
• Prepare and issue fortnightly monitoring and patrol response invoicing.
• Provide backup for employee expense processing and cover team members during leave and peak periods.
• Contribute to process improvements and management reporting.
