Job summary

West Recruitment in Sydney’s Western Suburbs seeks an Accounts Payable Supervisor or Senior AP Officer ready to step up. You will lead a small AP team, manage the creditors ledger, and drive process improvements in a busy, collaborative Finance environment.

You will mentor staff, ensure timely supplier communications, and participate in month-end activities while aligning with vendor terms and internal policies. Hybrid work 2 days/week available.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or supervising an Accounts Payable team.
• Strong reconciliation skills.
• Exposure to process and procedure improvements.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience with ERP packages and intermediate to advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead and motivate a small team of Accounts Payable Officers.
• Assign responsibilities to ensure objectives are met daily, weekly and monthly.
• Train and mentor staff in department procedures and tasks.
• Communicate with Suppliers on AP enquiries and resolve promptly.
• Oversee controls and month-end reporting.
• Ensure compliance with AP, expense and internal approval policies.
• Act as escalation point for queries.
• Review supplier statement reconciliations and finalise payment runs.
• Contribute to process improvement projects.
• Align creditors ledger with vendor terms.
• Handle ad-hoc tasks as required.

Working in a busy but friendly environment the role would suit an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor or a Senior AP Officer who has high attention to detail, strong organisational skills and a passion for ongoing process improvement.

About your new job

The role will see you work closely with the Finance Manager to achieve team goals and manage the creditors ledger. This is a hands-on role with tasks that will include the following:

• Lead and motivate a small team of Accounts Payable Officers
• Assign responsibilities and tasks to ensure objectives are met on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• Train and mentor staff in department procedures and daily tasks, providing advice where required
• Communicate with Suppliers on accounts payable enquiries and resolving in a timely manner
• Overseeing controls and month-end reporting
• Ensure compliance with applicable AP, expense and internal approval policies
• Act as an escalation point for internal and external queries
• Review of Supplier Statement reconciliations and finalising payment runs
• Involvement and participation in any active company projects focused on process and procedure improvement
• Ensuring Creditors ledger is in line with agreed vendor terms
• Ad-hoc tasks as required

About You

You will be an Accounts Payable Supervisor / Team Leader or a Senior AP Officer ready to step up. To be successful in this role, you will ideally have exposure to the following:

• Previous background in leading or supervising an Accounts Payable team will be ideal but not essential
• Strong reconciliation skills
• Exposure to process & procedure improvements
• Strong communication and negotiationskills
• Ability to build relationships and liaise with internal and external stakeholders
• Previous experience with ERP packages and intermediate to advanced Excel
